Hari Raya in Glasgow
|
|
Selamat Hari Raya to all.Maaf zahir batin.  This is the first year I'm celebrating Hari Raya away from home, indeed out of Malaysia.Actually, the Raya mood is not as it is always when I am in Malaysia...hehehee..I had classes during the day and I actually wore Baju Kurung to class..  In the morning, Nuriza and me went to Kak Faridah's and Kak Arifah's place for our breakfast which was nasi impit, rendang and chicken (Kak Zaharah brought it).Then all of us headed to SUMSA except me as I was having classes.After class, I had discussion on assignments. At around 5 then, Suhana from Glagow University came over to the Strathclyde Library. We went visiting to around 6 houses in Charles Street only (with Ekin,Nazar,Syida,Temb,Wani and Ita) and other couples.We had nasi impit, lodeh,satay,pasta,rendang,kuah kacang,laksam,raya cakes and cookies. It was really wonderful having to meet with the Malaysians together celebrating Hari Raya in our own way.

Trip to Isle of Skye
|
|
I went for a trip to Isle of Skye (northern part of Scotland) from 21-23 Nov 2003.The trip was organized by the International Students Office.There were 2 buses with around 80 students on both.None of my Malaysian friends followed. I went with my classmate, Daao from Thailand, thinking that," I'll get new experience travelling with the international students"...read on and you'll know how I really feel.We departed from Glasgow at around 12:15 pm and make a stop to take pictures ( I don't know what the name of the place) but it was on the way... Then we stopped again at Fort William where we got to buy foods at Safeway.We then made a stop at Eilean Donan Castle to take the picture of the castle at night. The castle is actually a famous place to take pictures.The movie/show 'Highlander' was filmed here.(I didn't watch it)..The International Students Officer, Jim Wilson told us.Then we continued our journey and arrived at Kyleakin International Hostel at around 6 pm. I got a room with Daao and the room was really comfortable. We had dinner, and of course I had vegetarian food which was baked potato,green peas and corn..
On the next day, we started out journey at around 9:15 am.It was raining the whole day.We had many stops as the scenery was spectacular. Daao and me had the back seat since we were late,the road was bumpy.And we kept going off and on the bus to take pictures..I started feeling dizzy and guess what...I vomitted..3 times..  What I was thinking at that moment was "It would be nice if I am in Glasgow rite now"...but too late for regrets...hehehe...when we got back the hostel, I tucked myself in bed till morning..
The next mornng after having breakfast (scrambled egg,baked beans and cornflakes), I and Daao quickly got on the bus to get better seats and we managed to.We headed our way back to Glasgow but made a few more stops to several breathtaking scenery places.We arrived at Glasgow at around 4 pm and I was really glad, happy and grateful to be back home... ..Learnt my lesson..never ever go travelling without my Malaysian friends...EVER!

Buka Puasa at Murray Hall (Irfan's Farewell)
|
|
We had 'buka puasa' cum a farewell for Irfan at Murray Hall where Nira and Lia is staying.Irfan has finished his Masters and will be graduating this Wednesday (5//11) and will be heading back to Malaysia for good. Lia and Ekin was the chef...the cooked wonderful food....yum...yum.....we had Nasi minyak,ayam masak merah,ayam masak kicap pedas,curry puffs and cakes...quite a lot of food...Those who came were the usual people with addition of Wida (Brunei) and Imad (Belgium).
To Irfan, all the best in your future endeavours and do keep in touch...all of us will sure miss u..sob...sob...(especially Ekin and Lia)..
